Registered Nurse-Ashtabula Community Based Outpatient Care
Duties Include but not limited to the following:
Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Administers medications and procedures per establishing policies and guidelines. Using the nursing process and evidence-based practice, influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the PACT as well as expanded PACT team members. Responsible for collaborating with services internal and external to the VA to facilitate care transition in order to manage and coordinate care to effectively meet the patients' needs. Provides consultation and education to nursing staff in areas such as new equipment, mandatory review, orientation and cross-training, and continuing education. Demonstrates clinical expertise and knowledge of health care programs to improve the quality of patient care and the use of resources to facilitate compliance with internal and external requirements and standards. Demonstrates leadership by serving as an advocate for patients. Acquires and demonstrates strength in the areas of interpersonal relations, critical thinking, problem solving, and conflict resolution. Core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs. Supports and actively participates in initiatives such as Patient Centered Care, I CARE, and Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). Duties will be primarily performed at the Ashtabula CBOC. Work Schedule:

A registered nurse (RN) will have a current, full, active and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia. The appointing official may waive this registration if the RN is to serve in a country other than the U.S. and the RN has registration in that country (e.g., Philippines). The RN must maintain a current, full, active and unrestricted registration to continue employment with VA The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. In these programs, students are given a certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX and should submit this certification to VA prior to appointment. Students do not earn a BSN, but receive a MSN degree upon completion of course work. A copy of the MSN transcript must be provided to VA. Bridge programs that confer a master's degree also fully meet the education requirement, even though a Bachelor's Degree is not awarded. Office. Grade Determinations:

Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience.
