This full-time temporary position will primarily be screening staff, volunteers, and visitors entering our Behavioral Health Clinic building for COVID-19 potential exposures. Incumbent will be expected to fulfill the following duties:
Performs temperature checks on all staff members, volunteers, Veterans, and visitors entering the Erie VA Medical Center and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics. Assists with inventory management and ordering of supplies for the COVID screening area at the Erie VAMC and Community-Based Outpatient Clinics' entrances. The incumbent will use correct, English grammar and proper body language to organize and communicate ideas in words that are appropriate to listeners and situations. Speaks clearly and effectively when asking all individuals COVID-19 screening questions. Provides holistic in-patient care to Veterans in a manner conducive to the comfort and safety of those in the facility hospital units, living centers and/or household. Educates, role models, and assists patients and families in adhering to infection control principles throughout the facility. Utilizes and escorts patients using specialized equipment such as wheelchairs and Stryker wheelchairs according to Safe Patient Handling and Movement Policy. Establishes and promotes effective interpersonal relationships and communications with patient's, families and others. Responds to requests for assistance promptly and in a friendly cooperative manner. Establishes and promotes effective working relationships with other employees on the treatment team. Listens to all customer feedback and acts to resolve complaints within his/her control, and reports to immediate supervisor in a timely manner. Respects patients' rights, e.g. maintains privacy, confidentiality, and self-determination. The incumbent is expected to work independently and or as a part of a team. Duties require extensive periods of standing and walking. Working with residents requires regular and recurring bending, lifting (not to exceed 35 pounds), reaching, carrying, stooping, stretching and similar activities. Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Experience:
3 Months of full-time general experience that is related to the duties of Health Aid. Experience must be clearly written on resume. General experience includes:
(1) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Examples of related general experience include (but are not limited to):
direct patient care activities; ability to observe, perceive, use judgment, show initiative, and pay attention to detail; ability to take and record vital signs and other information; ability to politely and courteously provide customer service and relay information; speaks clearly and effectively to patients and visitors and basic knowledge of infection control in a clinical setting. OR Education:

6 Months of full-time general experience that is related to the duties of Health Aid. Experience must be clearly written on resume. General experience includes:
(1) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. General experience examples include:
direct patient care activities; ability to observe, perceive, use judgment, show initiative, and pay attention to detail; ability to take and record vital signs and other information; ability to politely and courteously provide customer service and relay information; speaks clearly and effectively to patients and visitors and basic knowledge of infection control in a clinical setting. OR Education:
Successfully completed 1 year of education beyondhigh school graduation in medical, health, or related fields. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Must attach transcript. OR Completion of an intensive, specialized course of study of less than 1 year may meet in full the experience requirements for GS-3. Courses of this type normally require completion of up to 40 hours per week of instruction rather than the usual 20 hours per week, and are usually of at least 3 months duration. Such courses may have been obtained through a variety of programs such as those offered by business or technical schools, and through military training programs but must be related to the medical field. OR Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-03 level. Must possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. To calculate, determine your total qualifying experience as a percentage of the 6 months' experience required for GS-3; then determine your education as a percentage of the 1 year of education that meets the requirements for GS-3. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for GS-3. A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
