Supervisor, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services

Principle duties may include but are not limited to:
Develop and manage the multiple clinical programs of service to meet current and anticipated patient care requirements of the rehabilitation center patient population within allocated resources. Develop and manage departmental budget with assistance from Fiscal and the approval of the Clinical Services Chief. Manage service patient care activities for all programs under PM&RS. Analyze clinically appropriate data effectively to optimize quality, performance, and productivity within the PM&RS department. Set priorities, delegate tasks, and solve problems in order to meet multiple deadlines and identify/address organizational problems/needs. Develop/implement all PM&RS policies and procedures - addressing focused clinical needs and the overall services delivered and provided by PM&RS ensuring all PM&RS policies/procedures are compatible with the Erie VAMC and VHA policies and regulations. Review and update scopes of practice, functional statements, competencies, and clinical privileges for all technical and clinical service staff, assuring that staff meet appropriate accreditation, and professional licensing/standards for patient care especially as related to high risk procedures and duties. Direct the hiring, performance evaluation, personnel management, disciplinary actions, approval of leave, preparation of performance standards, position descriptions and competency folders, resolution of complaints and grievances, staff development for all PM&RS (except physicians, unless otherwise designated), and promotion and marketing of PM&RS. Manage fiscal control points/budgets for all of PM&RS. Provide clinical advice on advanced/complex cases. Serve as a subject matter expert in home based primary care, orthopedics, and outpatient clinic environment which includes non-technical maintenance of equipment, safety checks, cleaning, stocking, etc. Other duties as assigned. You must have a Master's degree or its equivalent in audiology or hearing science from an accredited college or university. NOTE:
Effective January 1, 2007, the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of ASHA accredits only doctoral degree programs in audiology or hearing science. Education for Speech-Language Pathologist:
You must have a Master's degree or its equivalent in speech-language pathology, communication disorders, or a directly related field from an accredited college or university. Accredited means a college or university recognized by a regional accreditation organization and a speech-language pathology academic program recognized by the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Specialized Experience for Audiologist or Speech-Language Pathologist:
You must have completion of 1 year of professional experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSA's:

Graduate from a degree program in physical therapy from an approved college or university approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) to accredit entry-level physical therapy programs. NOTE:
Effective, January 1, 2002, CAPTE changed its scope of accrediting activities of PT education programs to include only those programs that culminate in post-baccalaureate degrees. Specialized Experience for Physical Therapist:
You must have completion of 1 year of professional experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSA's:
Knowledge of contemporary physical therapy across multiple areas of practice, and the demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to provide clinical guidance to Staff PTs within the department; Knowledge of human resources administration, including such functions as the ability to interview and select qualified applicants, monitor and evaluate performance, and maintain effective labor management relations within scope of responsibility; Ability to effectively supervise, direct, and manage a diverse physical therapy staff; Skill in forging positive interpersonal relationships and conflict resolution; Ability to analyze clinically appropriate data effectively to optimize quality, performance, and productivity within the section; Ability to set priorities, delegate tasks, and solve problems in order to meet multiple deadlines and identify/address organizational problems; and Ability to manage advocacy roles and planning activities within the VA and the greater rehabilitation community. Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy and two (2) years of experience as an occupational therapist, NOTE:
The baccalaureate degree must be from an approved program prior to the AOTA January 1, 2005 decision that the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) would only accredit master or doctoral degree programs in occupational therapy; OR bachelor's degree in occupational therapy and two (2) full years of graduate education in a related field; OR Master's degree or higher in occupational therapy. Graduation from a degree program in occupational therapy approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or predecessor organizations to include an internship (supervised fieldwork experience required by the educational institution) and complete the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Possession of written documentation that the individual has passed the entry-level certification examination for OTs which is administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Specialized Experience for Occupational Therapist:

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
