Position Summary Receives, sorts, delivers, and/or prepares all mail for delivery.
Incumbent may be responsible for one or more of the following:
Incoming Mail, Outgoing Mail, Policy Assembly and Mechanical Mailing.
This is an in office position on 1st shift.
The hiring manager will also consider candidates for Mail Specialist II.
Level of position offered will be based upon the depth and breadth of selected candidate's experience and qualifications.
Duties and Responsibilities Receives and sorts Erie Insurance mail from internal/external sources.
Sorts cash payments for processing area according to type of payment.
Serves as liaison for Agents with regard to address updates and system questions.
Ensures that any unopened or undistributed mail is locked away at the end of the day.
Assists in additional company mailing projects.
Specific duties by discipline:
Incoming Mail:
Oversees opening, sorting and routing of incoming mail.
Picks up and delivers all inbound and interoffice mail according to prearranged schedules.
Outgoing mail:
Receives, sorts and prepares mail for Agents, branch offices, postal and Express delivery.
Determines recipient and best method of delivery.
Updates Agent information in computer system for directional sheet posting and placement of physical boxes at personal work station.
Makes preparations for outgoing postage, mail and packages.
Provides courier service to general management staff requiring immediate or time sensitive deliveries.
Maintains courier van (gas, tires, etc.
) and refers any problems to supervisor.
Policy assembly:
Sorts, assembles and mails insurance policy packets to Policyholders.
Operates mechanical folding machine when necessary.
Mechanical mailing:
Operates and maintains mechanical mailing equipment to prepare outgoing mail in a very efficient manner.
Prepares and maintains weekly output reports of machine for section supervisor.
Complies with appropriate safety measures relating to the operation of mechanical mailing equipment.
Performs weekly preventative and general maintenance of all mailing equipment in accordance with established procedures and schedules.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
