Location Erie, Pa Position Summary Career Readiness Learning Objectives:
Communication - Student workers will consistently communicate with both students and faculty.
Their role will play a big part in obtaining, recording and being discreet with grades.
They will also consistently be in communication with the faculty/Lab Coordinator to ensure the smooth functioning of the labs.
Teamwork - Student workers will work together in setting up laboratory activities and maintaining lab materials.
They will also work together to ensure all scheduled lab times are covered.
Critical Thinking:
Student workers will use their knowledge of biology concepts and safety protocols to assist the laboratory coordinator, faculty members, and other student workers in solving problems that arise in the preparation process/conducting and/or instruction of students.
Job Description:
The Biology Department is looking for Human Physiology laboratory teaching assistants.
The candidates selected for this position will be assisting as a lab assistants or office aids in the Human Physiology Laboratory.
The assistant must be an undergraduate student currently enrolled in biology major or related majors/programs at Gannon University who already passed Human Physiology Laboratory course with at least a B grade.
As a laboratory teaching assistant your duties include:
Assisting lab instructors in performing teaching or teaching-related duties in BIOL 369, Human Physiology Lab.
Follow all safety guidelines at all times in the laboratory, and instruct and enforce these guidelines for all students in the laboratory.
Attend meetings scheduled by the supervising faculty member.
Clearly and fully understand the material to be covered in the lab session, how to handle it in the laboratory, and how it is related to the lectures.
Prepare reagents, tools, or set up equipment before each laboratory session.
Be available and professional to students during laboratory periods and be prepared to help students with questions during the laboratory period.
Promptly relay any problems encountered with the experiments or laboratory sessions to the supervising faculty member.
Clean up the laboratory at the end of each session.
Report equipment maintenance, chemical shortages or room maintenance problems to the supervising faculty member.
Maintain an accurate grade and attendance record.
Proctors exams, grades tests and homework, and records grades.
Complete time entry online biweekly before the deadline.
Required Qualifications The applicant should have passed physiology lecture, lab and earned a B or better grade.
Preferred Qualifications The applicant should have passed human physiology lecture and lab with an A grade.
Physical Demands Hired students must be able to do some physical activity, such as lifting instruments (light weight), laptops, Power Lab teaching units.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
